Wesley Silcox, Clint Craig, and Ardie Maier rode the hair off 'em at the Houston Shootout.
The Houston Shootout invites only ten athletes from the best rodeos in the United States and Canada to compete in bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, and saddle bronc riding.
We asked Ardie Maier how it felt to compete in the final round against his friends which he stated, “It’s a great day when you and your buddies can ride for 25,000. We rode the hair off them in front of 75,000 people – what a day.”
What a day it was! The Cowboy Outfitters USA Cowboys dominated the Houston Shootout on March 9, 2013. Kaycee Feild represented the Calgary Stampede, Wesley Silcox represented the Austin Rodeo, Ardie Maier represented the San Antonio Stock Show, and Clint Craig represented the National Western Stock Show. All four made it back to compete in the final showdown to win 25,000.
Kaycee Field finished second just behind Casey Colletti in the bareback. Welsley Silcox went on to win the 25,000 in the bull riding while Clint Craig finished second and Ardie Maier third. Wesley rode for 92 points in the final round. Silcox stated after winning “When you’re here riding for that much money in front of that many people, you’re on top of the world after a win like that.” Clint Craig, who won 10,000 in the final round, said “It’s good to be with your friends and having a good time. It makes it even better when you’re winning.” Clint Craig went on to Arcadia, FL the following day, to win first for 91 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Sponge Bob.
